Eighth seed Carl Baxter is through to the semi-finals of the Swedish International in Stockholm after English National champions Rajiv Ouseph and Elizabeth Cann made early exits from the singles events on Friday.

Top seeds David Lindley and Suzanne Rayappan were also among the second- round casualties in the mixed doubles.

But Baxter defeated Finnish fourth seed Ville Lang 21-17 21-14 in the quarter-finals to earn a crack at Denmark's European Team Champinship squad member Jan O Jorgensen, who toppled top seed Eric Pang 22-20 22-20. Brice Leverdez of France faces Dutchman Dicky Palyama in the other semi-final.

In the mixed doubles Rob Adcock and Heather Olver won their quarter-final with Sweden's Tim Foo and Russia's Anastasia Kudinova 21-17 21-17 while Middleton and Agathangelou put out French second seeds Baptise Careme and Laura Choinet 16-21 21-16 21-12.

That helped make up for Middleton's quarter-final exit in the men's doubles with Marcus Ellis, falling to Polish third seeds Adam Cwalina and Wojciech Szkudlarczyk 21-18 21-14.

But Lindley and Chris Langridge won their quarter-final against Japan's Hirokatsu Hashimoto and Noriyasu Hirata 21-12 21-17 and now face Croatian Zvonimir Durkinjak and China's Hong Mao.

In the women's doubles quarters third seeds Olver and Rayappan went out in a tight clash 21-18 21-19 against Bulgaria's Petya Nedelcheva and Dimitria Popstoikova.

In Friday's early rounds seventh seed Rajiv Ouseph was beaten by Denmark's Kasper Ipsen 21-15 18-21 21-16 while fifth seed Elizabeth Cann fell to China's Xi Zhang 21-17 21-14.
